I co-designed the production for A Small Detour alongside Loren Johnson as part of Big Tent Films' entry for the 2024 SCI-FI-LONDON 48-Hour Film Challenge. The film follows a high-concept sci-fi premise in which a mysterious brain-hacking machine allows users to switch consciousness with strangers from around the world.
With only 48 hours to complete the film, we built the machine in just 24 hours using recycled materials and scrap parts, ensuring it had a tactile, retro-futuristic aesthetic. The set, a derelict house, was dressed to enhance the film’s eerie and experimental atmosphere.
Out of 44 competing teams, A Small Detour placed 3rd in the competition, standing out for its inventive worldbuilding and striking production design.
